Thank you for supporting the Carson Valley
Discovery Trail through "Nevada's Big Give"

CVTA's vision is to connect the entire Carson Valley community to nature by
completing the 100-mile Carson Valley Discovery Trail. Over $2800.00 was donated
to this project through "Nevada's Big Give" on November 17, 2011.

CVTA thanks you for building for Bill

On October 22nd and 23rd, over 50 volunteers came out for the "Build for Bill" event to work on the Genoa Loop Trail, totaling 330 hours of trail work. Every hour of trail building was an hour of support for Bill Hay, CVTA president, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer, which prevents him from doing the trail building he loves. To learn more about Bill’s illness, visit

Announcing the Carson Valley Discovery Trail

Currently, CVTA is working with a number of agencies, including Douglas County,
the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management,
the Washoe Tribe of California & Nevada, The Nature Conservancy and others to
connect current and future trail segments within the Carson Valley into a 100-mile
"theme" trail - the Carson Valley Discovery Trail.

CVTA is nearing completing of a significant portion of the Carson Valley Discovery
Trail - the 22-mile Genoa Foothill Trail project. This trail segment is expected to be
open for public use in the spring of 2012.

The "Fundraiser for the Carson Valley Discovery Trail" will kick off fundraising to
support the construction of the Carson Valley Discovery Trail.
