Bill Hay

Bill Hay, Co-President

Bill moved to Carson Valley in 2003 to escape Bay Area traffic and enjoy the many outdoor activities that abound here. He retired in 2009 after 40 years working throughout western states for the USDA Forest Service. Bill has always enjoyed hiking and has completed more than 1,000 miles of the 2670 mile Pacific Crest Trail. He volunteered to work with CVTA because he is excited about the idea of great local trails and wants to help make this trail system a reality.

Kerstin Wolle

Kerstin Wolle, Co-President

Kerstin's passion is trails: hiking daily and working to improve and expand our Carson Valley trails network. She held several CVTA offices before becoming president in 2006. Kerstin was born and educated in Sweden where she originally learned to love and appreciate the beauty, inspiration and imagination of nature. She was transplanted to Iowa as a young bride, and now enjoys everything about the Nevada outdoors.

Suzanne Huff, Secretary

Suzanne is an active member of Back Country Horsemen of America (Carson Valley Chapter) and the Nevada All-state Trail Riders. She is avid endurance rider with 14,000+ miles in competition and has earned national awards.

Phil Brisack, Trailbuilding

Phil retired in 1997 and has been active building and maintaining trails since moving to the Carson Valley in 1998. He served 6 years on the Tahoe Rim Trail Association board of directors, 3 years as trails chairman. Sharing his knowledge and teaching others how to build sustainable trails is a favorite activity.

Norah Gastelum

Norah has lived and taught in the Carson Valley since 1990. Mostly, she loves being out in the woods; running, hiking, backpacking, sketching and building trails with the awesome folks from CVTA.

 

Deby O'Gorman

Deby O'Gorman

A member of and volunteer for many horse organizations in the area, including Backcountry Horseman of America (Carson Valley Chapter), the Northern Nevada Gaited Horse Club and the Nevada Division of the Pony Express, Deby has spent her life riding and showing horses in a wide variety of disciplines. Deby serves on the Tahoe Rim Trail Association Board of Directors in an equestrian capacity and has not only hiked, but ridden her horses many miles in the Carson Valley, Tahoe and the surrounding areas. Deby is excited to be a Member of the Board of Directors, serving to perpetuate the continued and common sense use of our trails by equestrians and seeks to unite the equestrian community with other trail users in harmony and safety for all.

 

Steve Hale

Steve Hale

Steve moved to the Lake Tahoe area from Michigan over 2 decades ago. Sailing, fly fishing, skiing, camping in the Sierra, hiking, and traveling/cruising all over with wife Cheryl keep them happily busy. He volunteers raising Guide Dog For The Blind puppies, teaching 4th graders about fisheries as a “Trout Buddy” through Trout In The Classroom, and working with trails organizations. He also portrays several historic Lake Tahoe figures including Snowshoe Thompson, Dr. James E. Church, and George Whittell. He was a Recreational Specialist managing trails, wilderness, conservation education, interpretation, Scenic Byways and ski area & river running for the U.S. Forest Service including 20 years in the Lake Tahoe area.

Brenda Hunt

Brenda has lived in Carson City since 2005 and before that lived at Lake Tahoe for 3 years.  She and her husband have a young child they are looking forward to introducing to more and more of the local area and they feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place.  Brenda’s environmental education and background have solidified her love of the natural environment and enhanced her desire help people reconnect with their natural surroundings. Working with the board is another step on that journey.

Chic cherishes being part of CVTA's dream of completing the 24-mile Genoa Foothill Trail System by helping with the trail building and being a Co-Chairperson for the Hike for Health-Hike-A-Thon fundraiser. Our goal in completing the trail system is for the benefit of all generations, now and in the future, to enjoy the majestic beauty of Carson Valley. Happy Trails to All.

The first time Sue visited the Carson Valley in 1997, it was love at first sight. One of her first thoughts was that she wanted to hike the whole valley. Sue was employed by a school district for 22 years and lived in Southern California for 55 years before relocating to Gardnerville. She volunteers for CVTA so that future generations will be able to enjoy the beauty of our valley.

, Trail Cleanup

Joyce has been walking the Carson Valley trails since she arrived here in 2000. She can be seen frequently on the Fay-Luther trail with her two dogs Josie, a yellow lab, and Bock, a German shepherd. She has been a CVTA board member for several years and currently chairs the Trail Clean-up Committee. She is always looking for volunteers to help her with this ongoing task. Jeremy Vlcan, Trailbuilding/Grants

Jeremy is involved in grant management, trails planning and trails construction for the CVTA, and enjoys the pastoral and rugged character of Carson Valley and surrounding foothills. He has worked and been active in the Nevada outdoors and the west for over ten years. Jeremy’s contributions to the CVTA are to help establish and maintain a high quality system of trails for the benefit of residents and visitors to experience and enjoy.

Barb Wilson


Barb Wilson

Barb grew up and lived in the flat Chicago suburbs until moving “out west” to Southern California in 1981. Since moving to the Carson Valley in 2003, Barb has volunteered for several organizations including Friends of the Douglas County Library, the Town of Genoa (Candy Dance), Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club and CVTA. Recently, she was appointed to a 4-year term on the Douglas County Library Board of Trustees. Barb joined the CVTA board in 2008 and co-chairs Trail Awareness with Dick Morissette.
